Mark Strauch

President and CEO

Mark joined Purple Wave in March ’08 and is based in Purple Wave’s San Francisco office. He had served on Purple Wave’s board as an investor dating back to August ’07.

Mark has extensive executive leadership experience with Internet and software companies in Silicon Valley. Most recently, he was President and CEO of Business Engine, a software company backed by Oak Investment Partners, TCV, and Morgan Stanley which he successfully led until the company’s acquisition in 2007. Prior to Business Engine, Mark held leadership positions with Desktop.com and Electronic Arts. In addition, he was an investment banker with Broadview International, where he was involved in over $2 billion of Internet M&A transactions. Earlier in his career, Mark worked at Andersen Consulting, serving high-technology clients such as Intuit and Apple Computer.

Mark holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Mark has a wife and three children. In his spare time (and when not espousing his latest sports-business analogy), he can be found coaching his kids in one sport or another.
